The Posies - Every Bitter Drop

For a band that has broken up more than a few times, the Posies have had a remarkably consistent and high quality output. I think that all of their albums feature creative melodies and great playing. The solo records from both Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow are also well worth picking up.

Its been a while since the latest Posies release and of course it would be great to hear a new effort. Until then, here is a compilation of b-sides and tribute tracks . Its the first of a couple compilations that I'll post. I think this collection works pretty well in the order here. Be warned - it is heavy on cover songs. Auer and Stringfellow bring a lot in interpreting the work of others.
Many of these tracks were included in the long out of print Not Lame box set "At Least At Last" though I don't think all of them were included in that package.

Bring on the next comp! (Which I'm sure will have their cover of "Ooh Child" on it, right?) ;-)

These guys are so great! I was fortunate to live in Seattle as they were coming up and actually saw them open for Jellyfish. Later, in 2005, I had them play my music club, the Bouquet in Boise, ID and it was one of the highlights of my life. Jon's solo album is excellent as well. Great site!

I have to tell you, finding your blog has been a wet dream for these two compilations alone.

I absolutely love The Posies. Frosting On The Beater was a pivotal experience for me, and they remain, to this day, my second favorite band of all time.

Thank you so very much for these b-sides, rarities and covers. Most of which, I had never heard. "Keep Me Guessing" is an amazing tune.

Thanks so much for this. Ive been jonesing for Blood/Candy

The 2nd compilation you mention - I can't seem to find it after reading through your page. Could you point me in the right direction please?

Thank you again!

Andrew.

Fabulous. Thank you so much.

A quick (and hopefully easy) request -- with the second part of this set, you posted along with the songlist a brief parenthetical comment on where the track came from (e.g. demo, "KEXP session", etc.). Do you have any such information for these tracks?

Again, thanks muchly!
